SUMMARY:Computational Thinking and Problem Solving
DESCRIPTION:Participants will be introduced to the concept of\nComputational Thinking and its associated\nframework. Participants will explore the\nconnections between Computational Thinking\nand various content areas demonstrating its\neffectiveness as computer science foundation\nbuilder as well as a problem solving strategy.\nThroughout North Carolina\, educators and administrators alike are working to determine what\nconstitutes a digital competency credit. While educators are required to obtain them annually\,\nmany districts have a variety of opinions as to what tool\, strategy or content is classified under\ndigital competency. Teaching Fellows Institute would like to support its members by offering a\nprofessional development session this fall that will meet the needs of its educators. The team at\nProject Octopus\, is proposing a three hour session that focuses on the instructional framework of\nComputational Thinking both as a tool for integrating technology-driven practices into the\nclassroom but also as methodology for approaching problems and challenges within the\nclassroom.
