Research Confirms TFI’s Transformative Outcomes and Value Proposition

Independent Research from the UNCC College of Education confirms TFI’s transformative outcomes for TFI Fellows and TFI’s value proposition of retaining outstanding teachers in education. 99% of responding Fellows remain in education-a rate far exceeding the general population according to researchers.

New Collaborations

TFI’s first collaborations with local governmental entities began in 2017. Based on TFI’s successful training of Fellows in the 3D printing and computer coding spaces, the City of Charlotte’s YOUTH TRAINING & INNOVATION PROGRAM approached TFI to plan a 2018 collaboration. TFI collaborated with Mecklenburg County and the Winer Family Foundation on a screening and discussion of the documentary Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope.

Bringing 21st Century Skills to Students

TFI continued its track record of providing experiences and training to help teachers prepare their students for college or career with 21st century skills with Raspberry Pi3 coding and Design Thinking training.

Multiplier Effect of TFI Experiences and Training

In 2017 TFI Fellows leveraged their TFI training and experiences in multiple ways to the benefit of their students and schools. For example, a West Charlotte High School Fellow earned a $46,000 grant from the Jimmie Johnson Foundation based on TFI training and multiple schools are working with the County and the Winer Foundation to continue work on Student Resilience.
