TFI Educational Research Focus-Passion, Purpose and Perseverance

Research shows that a student who can articulate a purpose will be much more likely to exhibit improved life outcomes (http://mindsetscholarsnetwork.org/learning-mindsets/purpose-relevance/). If students can articulate a purpose, research indicates that they are more likely to graduate from high school and avoid negative life choices. Prof. Brian Housand of ECU directed this work for TFI (www.brianhousand.com). Prof. Housand was honored by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA as the official educational social media voice for the NASA Mars Landing.

Meeting the Digital Learning Requirement for NC Teachers

Satisfying the new Digital Learning Requirement for re-licensure for NC teachers has proved problematic. TFI worked with state and local teachers and administrators to provide relevant workshops to meet this requirement using the BBC Micro:bit (https://www.microbit.org/ )

TFI Fellows are Leveraging TFI Experiences into their School Community

“The experience provided by TFI will be something I am definitely going to be taking back to my classroom. I feel energized and motivated by both the content and by the connections I have made with K-12 teachers.”
